Can we really start March 3rd?

I had planned for baby to be here by now. Which was going to give me bonding time and time to be a little bonkers before we set into "school." I have no idea what I'm doing now. I don't feel right about starting now since baby could be here TODAY and then we'll just be all confused since we'd have to stop in the middle for who knows how long.

My prayer is just that I won't be too hard on myself about "keeping the schedule" with my new baby. Because there are more important things than making sure you check off a box when you have a newborn. (and lack of sleep!)

And, although we have been "off school" lately, we are still sticking with the basics. Superkid finished his math workbook, so we're ready to start fresh with Singapore math. And, we've continued with First Language Lessons - almost done with that, so we'll be able to start fresh with Primary Language Lessons. We're working, just not on EVERYTHING right now.

Anyway, I'm just thinking outloud. Hoping to remind myself that IT'S OK that I'm not "on target" with my plans. God has worked everything according to His plan, and that's what's most important. :-)

Check back after baby comes.

Purchases & Planning

Went ahead and bought the same "Filing Notebook" (comes with a notebook inside - where I put the manual) by Mead again. You can see it here if you'd like. It worked so well with ECC, that I was really hoping I could find the same thing again. I bought red for our adventures year. I got the clear, thin flexible notebook too, so I can continue with the same system. I was tempted to buy for the next few years, but my budget just didn't seem to think that was the best plan.

Spent some time going over the materials & recipes lists in the files on the yahoo group. So, I'm almost all set!

If you haven't noticed, I'm keeping my mind busy because I am SUPER anxious to meet my baby boy!!!! Any day... any minute now - he could come!

By the way, according to the tracking from MFW our curriculum should arrive on Friday. Hope we're here to pick it up. Otherwise, I hope I remember to have someone check for me. We'll see how that works out.

Ok, I'm gone now (for really!) until I get the package in the mail or sometime after that depending on how things go.

Long Term Planning - SCHOOL

In some ways I know that this is almost pointless. Who knows where we will be or what will happen in the upcoming years. But, as I now have both ADV & ECC, I am looking to plan for the next few years. I find it motivating to have a goal in mind, but have to remind myself that the schedule cannot be my final authority because right in the middle of all of my perfect plans - Life always happens!

Here's my long term plan as it stands right now:

Sept. 07- Jan. 08: ECC
Superkid-2nd grade
Pickles- 2yrs

March 08 - Jan. 09: ADV
Superkid-2nd/3rd grade
Pickles-3yrs
Baby Boy-Baby

Feb. 09 - Sept. 09: ECC
Superkid- 3rd grade
Pickles-3/4 yrs.
Baby Boy- 1 year

Oct. 09-July.10: CTG
Superkid-4th grade
Pickles-4/5 years
Baby Boy-2yrs

Sept.10-June11: RTR
Superkid-5th grade
Pickles-5/6
Baby Boy-3yrs

Sept.11 - June 12: Ex-1850
Superkid-6th grade
Pickles- 6/7
Baby Boy-4yrs

Sept.12 - Jun. 13: 1850-Mod.
Superkid-7th grade
Pickles-7/8 yrs
Baby Boy-5yrs

Then...
ECC again?
Superkid-8th
Pickles-8yrs
Baby Boy-5

They contacted me.

And everything is taken care of. So, we should be receiving our curriculum in about a week. Pretty exciting! In the meantime I just wanted to post what they told me on the message board for anyone who comes across this issue in the future.

"An FYI for anyone with this situation in the future, the phone call is very effective, even if it is a message on our answering machine." - (Steve from MFW.)

Thankfully they were able to catch my mistake before it was shipped!!

I'll be back after the curriculum arrives.
See you then!

I can't believe I didn't write in to say...

We placed our order!!!!!!!

Friday night when I ordered I made a mistake and forgot to add in the math, so I have no idea how that is going to work out. I emailed MFW and I left a message on their answering machine. Hopefully they get the message that I want to add in the math curriculum too. I just don't want to pay the extra shipping. So, right now I'm waiting to hear back from them. I assume they will contact me on Monday and it will all get worked out. (fingers crossed here)

In the meantime we are all excited around here to get started. I figure we'll be just a wee bit side-tracked for awhile when the little bundle of baby comes. But, eventually we'll try to get back to "normal."

Now we just wait.
Wait for My Fathers World.
Wait for the curriculum.
Wait for baby.

I guess we're off on an adventure!

Somehow, it was decided we needed to step back a little and take a year to study America. We are now using My Fathers World - Adventures.

We will come back and finish our year with ECC (Exploring Countries & Cultures) after Adventures. You can look back on what we've done so far by visiting my other blog called - Our Homeschooling Fun. The way I set that one up it works better to just begin a new blog for this new "year."

This should be a real adventure as we just added a new baby to the mix. So hang tight as we may have some bumpy roads along the way. :-)

Thanks for coming along as we study the greatest country on earth!!
